Local ACLU Chair Engages in Voter Suppression for Lynn Compton

Local ACLU Chair Engages in Voter Suppression for Lynn Compton

Regardless of who wins the District 4 race, we know one thing for sure: Lynn Compton supports voter suppression. The egregiousness is further compounded by the fact she tapped our local ACLU chair to make that suppression happen.

Conspiracy Over Conscience

Conspiracy Over Conscience

What’s happening in SLO County is a microcosm of the conspiracy theory-thinking that’s pervaded our political discourse nationally.

The CalCoastNews Candidate

The CalCoastNews Candidate

It’s mind-boggling that a political candidate like Lynn Compton would want to be associated with CalCoastNews, a website now widely recognized for manipulating the public. If Compton financially supports the manipulative, delusional politics of Karen Velie, what does that truly say about her moral compass?

Parkinson’s Trigger-Happy Silence

Does Parkinson fear the NRA as much as he fears telling the truth about Andrew Holland?

SLO County and the War on Integrity

SLO County and the War on Integrity

Candidates with integrity won’t stoop to underhanded and illegal tactics. They certainly shouldn’t be silent, especially when these allegations and propaganda are so prevalent in our political discourse. Voter frustration and anger are commonplace in political campaigns, but well-organized character assassinations should be addressed, condemned and corrected. If it’s not addressed, this type of mudslinging will become the new norm in SLO County politics, and voters will be unable to cut through the incessant, hyperbolic noise.

Let’s Talk About Depression

Let’s Talk About Depression

People will think Adam Hill’s personal revelation is somehow an excuse or some public relations-savvy pivot, but we can all agree Hill’s candor about the subject is something that a lot of people can relate to. By having that discussion, we can literally save lives and be a part of the solution.

Women's March 2017 protesters are out in full force (Photo by Annie Hock)

SLO County and #MeToo: Oil and Water

Sexual harassment and misconduct cases are largely ignored by the local establishment. While the Women’s March and protesters are doing their best to raise awareness and enact policies to protect women, there’s also a counterculture of sexual misconduct denial, exploitation and shaming that must be addressed.

Pay No Mind to Hyperpartisan Trolls

Pay No Mind to Hyperpartisan Trolls

I watched the Jan. 9 SLO County Board of Supervisors meeting. What I saw was one-sided, hyperbolic and capricious partisanship aimed directly at one left-leaning board member.
